This was a 1930s apartment that had last been renovated in the 1990s. The kitchen was originally closed off to the living room, and it had builder-grade cabinets and countertop. I stripped it down to the studs and opened up a large pass-through to the living room.
The semi-custom cabinets are now topped with a solid surface countertop in a fresh light grey, and open shelving with hidden LED light strips,
along the righthand wall, holds plates and decorative accents. The floor is super-durable encaustic cement tile.
The bathroom had been lined entirely (both floors and walls) in a grey-veined marble, and it had a massive shower stall, but no bathtub. The client wanted a large tub for soaking, a Japanese bidet toilet, and a minimal style with a crisp pop of color—so I replaced everything. The floor tile is again encaustic cement tile with a fun, water-wavy pattern.
