This kitchen in a 1920s building had last been renovated in the early 2000s. The client wanted a renovation featuring teal, his favorite color—and for all the cabinets to have glass windows to match the original cabinetry, some of which would remain. He also wanted more space on the countertop, meaning small appliances would need to live underneath.
I had custom cabinets made in teal for the lower cabinets and white for the uppers (to match the original cabinets), and installed a natural linoleum floor in a warm pumpkin shade. I also added under-cabinet and inside-cabinet lighting for better functional visibility, had a custom niche created for the microwave, and replaced all the appliances.
The result has a decidedly non-traditional color scheme, but one that the client, who loves deep color tones and contrast, loves.
